Our Guide to Finding the Best Jeans for Your Body Type

Jeans. They’re one of the most popular fashion staples that can be found in every wardrobe all over the world. So how come it is SO difficult to find the perfect pair? While jeans are probably the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own, they can also cause you a huge headache if you don’t find the best fit for your body type.

But say goodbye to years and years of buying jeans, only to find they either don’t fit or don’t compliment your body how you’d like. Here at EGO, we are all about body positivity and want you to feel great in the best jeans for your body type. Sounds good, right? So let us walk you through the different types of jeans we have available and which types of women’s jeans you need in your wardrobe.

Discover your body type

One of the main reasons why it is so difficult to find the best jeans for your body type is because you don’t really know what your body type is. While you may think that you have a rough idea, it is important to remember that everyone’s body is different. So even if you are the same size or height as your friend, it doesn’t mean that you have the same body type.

Once you can identify which body type you have, it will be much easier to find the best jeans for that body type. Here are some of the most common body types:

Hourglass

The hourglass body type is characterised by a more defined waist that cinches in at the middle with a balanced bust.

Pear

The pear shape features wider hips which may mean that you struggle to find jeans that fit as you have a narrower waist. Typically a pear (sometimes called a triangle) body type will have a smaller bust measurement too.

Apple (or round)

An apple body shape is rocking narrower hips and slender legs with a fuller midsection or bust. This body type may mean that you are a completely different size on the top than on the bottom.

Straight (or rectangle)

If you have this body type then you should expect your waist, hip, and bust measurements to all be similar to create a straight up and down shape.

Jeans for every body and shape

Now that you have a better idea of how your body looks and feels you should be able to work out which body type you are. This is where the fun part starts. Finding the perfect types of women’s jeans for you doesn’t have to be a challenge, and instead, you should consider it a fashion-friendly adventure.

Although we will warn you, it is unlikely that you’re going to find your jean soulmate in the first pair you try on. You may need to try on multiple different types of jeans before you find your perfect pair. But once you do, you’ll be set for life.

Now let’s delve into each body type we discussed above and which types of jeans your body shape should be avoiding or living!

Hourglass

If you’re an hourglass shape then our EGO fashion experts recommend that you go for a pair of high-waisted jeans that cinch in at the waist. You can choose from either bootcut or flared styles as either will accentuate your hourglass figure and keep the balance between your upper and lower body.

We recommend that our hourglass babes avoid jeans that have a lot of detailing around the hips as this will disrupt the natural balance of your body shape!

Pear

For our pear girlies, we suggest that you go for high-rise, dark-washed jeans that elongate your legs. If you are keen to make your body appear more proportional then we recommend that you go for bootcut and wide-leg types of women’s jeans.

Don’t be afraid to team up your new favourite jeans with a pair of high heels to achieve that dressed-up look that also adds a bit of extra height to you. But we should keep clear of skinny jeans or those with too many pockets or embellishments on the bum to avoid exaggerating your hips too much.

Apple

For apple body shapes we recommend a straight-leg pair of mid-rise jeans for a super flattering look. While you may want to go for a stretchy pair of jeans that offer added comfort around the waist, you should avoid low-rise jeans that might restrict you around your midsection. If you’re a fan of getting your midriff out then why not pair your new jeans with the top from one of our co-ord sets to create even more versatile jean-friendly outfits?

Rectangle

The great news about having a rectangular body shape is that almost any style of jeans works. But if you’re looking to create the illusion of a curvier shape then we totally recommend jeans that feature back pocket detailing as this will help to show off your bum. You could also opt for flared or bootcut types of jeans to add another tapered dimension to your look.

With the help of our fashion experts and an extensive range of different types of women’s jeans here at EGO, you can find the perfect pair to suit your body type for every occasion!
